Emma Van Lare is a first-generation Ghanaian-American actor and writer. Recent credits include a guest star on Law & Order and her broadway debut understudying the Tony-nominated Ain't No Mo' by Jordan E. Cooper. She made her professional stage debut at California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) as the lead in the 2019 world premiere of Madhuri Shekar’s House of Joy. She can also be seen in the historical fiction short film The Example, available on Amazon, and on YouTube in the fantasy mystery drama web series Fabletown

 

Emma was a finalist in the 2021 MACRO x The Black List Feature Screenwriter Incubator and was an inaugural fellow for the 2021 Free the Arts Shay Fellowship for which she debuted her original solo work, Hello, I Wish I Were Dead, in December 2022. 

 

Emma holds a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.F.A. in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She is repped by SMS Talent.
